  • What is the difference between spouting & guttering?

There is no difference. They are the same product, just a different terminology.

Downpipes are a different item again; they take the water down to drain from the spouting/guttering.

  • How do prices of the Colorsteel spouting products compare to PVC Spouting?

As an example – the Coloursteel Quarter Round or 125mm OG Spouting profiles cost approximately 25% less than standard Marley Stormcloud/Classic PVC as there are fewer components required for the Colorsteel options.

All quoted prices are still dependent on each individual job.

  • How long will my spouting last?

With adequate maintenance and using top-quality materials, your spouting and downpipes should last at least 20 – 40 years.

Specifying & choosing top-quality products is important for maximising their life. Regular cleaning & maintenance are important; if your spouting is holding water, sagging, or bowing with inadequate flow to the stormwater drainage, it will affect the lifespan of these products.

We advise a visual check of your spouting a few times a year, looking for signs of damage, such as corners coming apart, loose fasteners, and even lengths of spouting that are coming away from the fascia boards. This could mean you need to be thinking about replacing your spouting.

If you live in a region with more than the usual rainfall or extreme weather conditions, consult Ace Spouting & Fascia for more information on what would best suit you.

  • How do I maintain my spouting and downpipes?

Regular cleaning of your spouting & downpipes with fresh water is the most important part of the maintenance required for longevity. Your gutters should be cleaned at least twice a year or more on the inside and outside to protect them from debris, dirt and salt.

If there are deciduous trees nearby, it is important to check regularly how well your spouting is draining; cleaning out your gutters of debris will also prevent mould & moss, insects and other pests from taking up residence.

We recommend that the spouting cleaning service is done by a trusted professional who can do it safely and effectively. Leaf guard systems are also available.

  • Can the new spouting products suit my home?

Modern fascia & spouting profiles are made to suit most types and designs of homes and are available in many different colours.

These products can be integrated to suit most house and design types. Selecting the right type and colour is important and increases the value of your home and gives you peace of mind for many years.

  • Water is building up in my spouting – do I need more downpipes?

This is dependent on the age of your house, with the possibility that your house has settled on its foundations over the years or the existing spouting may have been installed incorrectly.

If the roof square meterage calculation was incorrect at the time of construction & there may be many corners for the rainwater to try and travel to the nearest downpipe outlet, causing a build-up or overflow. This may mean you need more downpipes.

Your spouting and downpipes may just need to be checked and cleaned out.

  • Do you accept credit cards?

Yes, there is a link to a safe credit card payment area included on our invoices.

  • How do I get rid of my old spouting?

As part of the service, we offer the removal of the existing spouting and downpipes from the house and the site, leaving nothing but a great spouting job.

  • How soon can you do the installation?

After quote acceptance, you can expect the job to be done within ten working days or sooner, depending on product availability and weather conditions.

  • How long will it take to install new spouting?

The installation can vary from job to job; it may take a few hours for smaller jobs or a couple of days for full replacement work.

Generally, most jobs are completed in a day.

  • Are you insured?

Yes, we have full public liability Insurance coverage, including vehicles. Certificates of currency can be provided upon request.

  • Are there different sizes and profiles of spouting?

Yes, there are many different sizes and profiles in many base materials & colours, and it is dependent on what best suits your home.

You can view the full range of products on this website or contact us if you want more information.

  • Are there different types of spouting?

Yes, we offer pre-painted steel, aluminium, and copper, including PVC (Plastic) products.

  • What type of spouting do I use if I have rainwater tanks?

If water from the spouting is going straight into the top of a rainwater storage tank, then this is no problem, but if the downpipes are connecting underground directly into a sealed/siphon stormwater system or tank with pressure fittings then seamless downpipes are required, we have a choice of PVC (White or limited colours) or seamless aluminium (coloured to match spouting).

Note – Pre-painted metal downpipes with a folded/squashed seam are not acceptable for pressure stormwater systems.

Copper downpipes are available with a brazed seam to hold pressure as required.

  • Do I need to re-paint the spouting in the future?

As COLORSTEEL & ColorCote pre-painted products have a baked-on paint system, they do not have to be painted again or touched up. This system resists UV damage and gives excellent gloss with colour retention.

Older pre-painted products can be re-painted, but would seek advice from paint suppliers for the best process for the best result.

  • Can you just repair my old spouting?

This is dependent on whether the existing spouting profile is still available and or if the existing spouting base material is in good condition to where we could be able to make a good waterproof seal between the old & new.

  • Can I get a quote over the phone?

We are unable to give fixed quotes over the phone, but please do get in contact by calling or by using our customer contact us form on this website. We can come out and give you a free, no-obligation quote; as you can understand, there are many variables when quoting and estimating spouting and downpipes.

We check to see if it's a single or 2-storey home, if scaffold/access equipment is required, how many corners and angles, how many downpipe drops to the ground, and whether there are any obstructions or difficult areas that may create difficulties for the installation.

  • Do I need to be home when you come for quoting?

As long as we have clear instructions of what is required and full access around the outside of the house, then there is no need for someone to be home.

  • What preparation do I need to do before the installation?

Make sure any trees/foliage that are situated close to the work area have been trimmed back to allow access (this would be discussed well in advance); vehicles or anything fragile is not situated near the working areas, we ask to have standard power lead outside a locked window or door for charging battery tools etc. Do we need any gate/door access codes? Do dogs need to be tied up or locked in the house?

  • What is an internal gutter?

This is where the gutter is positioned inside the exterior metal or wood fascia panel; over the years, this design can have the risk of leaking or overflowing into the soffits and inside of homes. Built-in overflow systems sometimes can not cope with the volumes of water we have been experiencing lately.

We recommend installing more downpipes if the drainage allows it or converting this system to where the spouting is fixed to the front of a fascia board. Contact us for more information.

  • What is a Conversion of an Internal/concealed fascia gutter system?

This is where the existing internal fascia and gutter are totally removed and then replaced with the RIGS Colorsteel Fascia Conversion System with an external spouting fixed with a fall onto the front of the new Colorsteel fascia. This includes cutting the soffit linings back to accommodate the new fascia and includes new barge flashings on gable ends.

This new spouting is then connected to the existing or modified downpipes.

  • How do I maintain my spouting/gutters and downpipes?

This is dependent on the relevant products that were supplied and installed.
